ELENA CMS Platform
The CMS a thousand internal staff opened every day.
Backend Developer | 2020 - 2021
Backend systems behind national campaigns, contests, and recommendation engines: the problem, what I built, and how it held up.
Built and maintained ELENA, the CMS behind Pintar's content operations. New features, bug fixes, and performance work, shipped in Agile sprints into a codebase that predated me.
ELENA was the tool a thousand people opened every morning to do their job, so reliability mattered more than novelty. Most of my work sat inside modules other people had written years earlier.
Adding a PHPUnit pipeline where there had been no tests at all is what made it safe to keep shipping features into that codebase instead of tiptoeing around it.
Key impact
- Caught 40% of bugs before deployment by adding a PHPUnit test pipeline where there had been none.
- Cut QA rework time by 25%.
- Shipped 70+ features into a legacy codebase without a wave of regressions following each release.
